Arman Tsarukyan continued his successful competitive return at ADXC in Russia tonight by submitting Patricky ‘Pitbull’ Freire.
The Armenian fighter has competed in two grappling bouts since his withdrawal from UFC 311 in January, where a last-minute issue prevented him from facing Islam Makhachev. While awaiting his next UFC fight announcement, he is participating in ADXC events and secured a win against a former Bellator champion tonight.
Tsarukyan is now looking forward to returning to the octagon for his first mixed martial arts bout since his victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300, which took place over a year ago. It remains uncertain if he will receive a title opportunity against the winner of the upcoming UFC 317 main event. Additionally, he has been engaged in a public dispute with fellow lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett recently.
Tsarukyan Secures Submission Win Against Patricky Pitbull
Arman Tsarukyan required a demanding five rounds to secure the finish against the seasoned Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, Patricky Pitbull. As a former Bellator lightweight titleholder, Pitbull is recognized as one of the prominent `Pitbull Brothers,` who were dominant figures in Bellator before its acquisition by PFL.
In the final round, Tsarukyan managed to take Pitbull`s back and execute a rear-naked choke, securing the submission with only moments remaining. Pitbull had offered significant resistance, having stated before the contest that a victory in this setting could potentially lead to his UFC debut.
This triumph marks Tsarukyan`s second win since resuming competition earlier this month in Karate Combat, where he earned a decision victory over Makkasharip Zaynukov. He is now focused on an anticipated return to the UFC, which he believes is close.
Paddy Pimblett`s `Nobody Cares` Remark Preceded Tsarukyan`s Victory
Leading up to tonight`s grappling showcase, Tsarukyan engaged in a public dispute with Paddy Pimblett concerning a potential fight. The British fighter asserted his lack of interest in fighting Tsarukyan, preferring a matchup against Justin Gaethje instead.
This statement provoked a sharp response from Tsarukyan, a leading lightweight contender. He publicly stated, “It was clear you were speaking without any real intention of following through. Your career in the UFC appears to be based on advantages, generated buzz, and easy paths to success.”
Pimblett`s reaction was notably aggressive. He responded by calling Tsarukyan a “Rich boy talking about handouts,” adding, “You’ve been handed everything on a silver platter your whole life by daddy you [clown].” He continued, claiming, “Never said I wouldn’t fight you its just nobody cares about you after pulling out against Islam because of a ‘back injury’ we all know you were menstruating really you sausage.”
