Conor McGregor has hinted that his long-awaited return to the UFC octagon could finally happen, potentially against Michael Chandler, and possibly even at the White House.
The legendary former two-division champion McGregor has been sidelined for four years. A comeback seemed unlikely until President Donald Trump`s recent announcement about a potential UFC event at the White House stirred things up.
Following this, McGregor is actively campaigning for a return fight. He reached out to UFC head Dana White and posted public messages pushing to be included on this potentially historic event.
McGregor Aims to Settle Michael Chandler Rivalry at White House Event
Conor McGregor quickly embraced the concept of fighting at the White House, especially after visiting the location earlier this year. In a recent social media post, he shared an AI-generated image depicting him and Michael Chandler facing off with the Oval Office in the background.
The image features McGregor and Chandler in suits, facing each other, with President Trump and Dana White visible. McGregor captioned the post: “The only place where disputes truly get settled: The White House.”
McGregor and Chandler were originally scheduled to fight at UFC 303 last summer, but the bout was canceled after McGregor broke his toe. This potential fight stems from their coaching roles on The Ultimate Fighter 31 the previous year.
Conor McGregor Appears to Have Dana White’s Blessing for UFC Comeback
In recent years, McGregor`s attempts to organize a return have often clashed with Dana White. However, it appears the two might finally be on the same page.
He recently posted a screenshot showing he sent several voice notes to White, who responded positively with “I love it”.
This came after a message earlier in the day showing him with President Trump and a caption stating: “Happy 4th of July, USA. Excited with President Trump announcing a UFC fight event at the White House. I would be honoured! Count me in!”
