It appears that one of the most popular and exciting fighters in the featherweight division has departed from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Alex Caceres is a veteran UFC featherweight and former headliner who began competing in the Octagon in 2010. An alumnus of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 12’, Caceres spent 14 years on the UFC roster, where he faced prominent opponents such as Urijah Faber, Yair Rodriguez, Sergio Pettis, and Giga Chikadze.
As of this report, the former ranked contender is still listed on the official UFC roster, which makes the news of Caceres’ next scheduled fight outside the promotion particularly surprising.
Alex Caceres Books Post-UFC Fight at Dirty Boxing Championship
On Monday, it was announced that Caceres is set to fight former UFC athlete Saidyokub Kakhramonov. This bout will not be under the UFC banner but rather at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship event, scheduled for June 14th in Miami, Florida.
Dirty Boxing is a new hybrid combat sport that blends aspects of MMA and boxing, using four-ounce gloves. Fighters are allowed to punch, slap, elbow, and engage in ground and pound.
The featherweight contest between Caceres and Kakhramonov is positioned as the co-main event for DBX 2. The main event will feature former UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik taking on Devon Schwan.
While Caceres’ name has not yet been removed from the active UFC roster database, accepting this booking strongly indicates the conclusion of his extensive 30-fight career with the organization.
Alex Caceres Earned Eight Performance Bonuses During His UFC Tenure
Caceres concludes his UFC run following two consecutive decision losses, falling to Giga Chikadze in 2023 and Sean Woodson around the same time last year.
Known as ‘Bruce Leeroy’, he compiled a record of 16-13 (1 NC) within the Octagon. Throughout his UFC career, he was recognized for his exciting style, earning a total of $400,000 from eight performance bonuses.
A notable moment was his compelling split decision loss to former interim champion Yair Rodriguez in their 2016 main event bout, which saw both fighters receive ‘Fight of the Night’ honors.
The fan-favorite once achieved a five-fight winning streak in the featherweight division, securing victories over fighters like Chase Hooper, Kevin Croom, and Steven Peterson, which propelled him into the top-15 rankings.
Another standout performance from Caceres came in 2014 when he submitted former Bellator champion Sergio Pettis in an action-packed fight that earned Caceres a $100,000 post-fight bonus.
