MMA fighter Francis Ngannou has released a statement addressing his involvement in a tragic motorcycle accident in his native Cameroon. The incident, which reportedly occurred over the Easter weekend in the Omnisports district of Yaounde, resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl.
According to initial reports, Ngannou was driving the motorcycle when it was involved in a collision with the young woman. While full details of the crash are not yet public, the victim sustained injuries and was reportedly transported to a local medical facility by Ngannou for treatment.
Sadly, despite efforts, the young woman did not survive her injuries and passed away at Yaounde General Hospital.
Ngannou`s Response and Support
In a statement, Ngannou expressed his profound grief and offered support to the family of the deceased teenager.
“From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time,” Ngannou stated. “I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.”
He added, “I carry their pain with me, and my unwavering thoughts and support remain with them as they face this heartbreaking loss.”
Authorities in Cameroon have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

The 38-year-old Ngannou recently returned to mixed martial arts in October, securing a first-round victory over Renan Ferreira in his PFL debut, his first MMA fight in over two years. Prior to this, he had high-profile boxing matches against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua after leaving the UFC.
This tragic event follows another immense personal loss for Ngannou, who recently revealed that his 15-month-old son died suddenly in April 2024.
