McGregor Hints at UFC Return with Message to Dana White

Conor McGregor attempted to reignite discussions about his potential return to the UFC by publicly addressing the promotion.

The Irish fighter, known as ‘Notorious’, has been out of action since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021.

A fight against Michael Chandler was scheduled for UFC 303 in June 2024, but the bout was canceled due to McGregor sustaining a broken toe during training.

Following this, UFC CEO Dana White has expressed uncertainty regarding the possibility of McGregor ever competing in MMA again.

McGregor Signals Potential Return

Speculation surrounding Conor McGregor`s fighting future had significantly subsided in recent months.

The 36-year-old fighter had shown minimal interaction with the sport that propelled him to fame and fortune.

However, the situation shifted when Dana White announced a series of fight-related updates on Tuesday.

McGregor responded to news of Islam Makhachev vacating his UFC title by sending an `exciting` message to White.

The following day, the former two-division champion appeared to initiate steps towards his return.

On his Instagram story, McGregor wrote: “@danawhite @tkogrp CALL THAT BIG BUTT NURSE.”

He added: “Let’s get this show started @ufc.”

Previous Hints at Retirement

In March, McGregor had previously suggested he was retiring from the UFC after declining a fight offer.

At that time, the fighter known as ‘Mystic Mac’ appeared more focused on pursuing a political career than competing in the UFC.

Speaking at a BKFC press conference, McGregor stated: “I’ve got two fights on the contract, I’m in negotiations.”

“Last week something happened to me, I went to the White House and my heart bleeds for my country right now.”

“So there’s a lot of stuff going on back home, I’m happy with what I’ve done. There’s something else for me that’s in my gut right now and that’s kind of where I’m going.”
