Francis Ngannou recently returned to social media activity after a challenging period marked by significant personal losses earlier in 2025. The PFL heavyweight champion had stepped away from regular updates following the tragic death of his young son and involvement in a serious road accident.
Ngannou`s Social Media Post Follows Jon Jones Call-Out
His return post on Instagram, his first in two weeks, featured photos of him training boxing. His caption read, “Life is a tough opponent, but you should keep on fighting no matter what.” This post quickly attracted comments about a potential fight with Jon Jones.
Coincidentally, on the same day, UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones publicly expressed interest in a fight with Ngannou, describing it as a “real super-fight.” Jones, who has shown reluctance to face interim champion Tom Aspinall, tweeted that a clash between “two kings from different roads” like him and Ngannou would be a significant addition to his legacy, calling it “not just hype.”
How Did Ngannou UFC Return Rumors Begin?
Ngannou`s history with the UFC includes a notable departure in 2023 after he did not renew his contract. He is currently signed with the PFL for MMA bouts.
Despite this, recent comments from his coach, Eric Nicksick, have fueled speculation about a potential return to the UFC. Nicksick stated he would welcome a reconciliation, suggesting that for Francis, the motivation is competition, and the highest level of competition is found in the UFC.
