Thursday’s previews weren’t even supposed to be a part of the equation, as the advance screenings dropped at nearly the very last minute. Nevertheless, The Eras Tour still brought in $2.8 million during its early screenings.

According to Deadline, business was booming for Taylor Swift’s big-screen venture on Friday, October 13. The concert movie is projected to make somewhere between $40 million and $50 million on Jason Voorhees’ favorite day of the year. And while there are plenty of horror films out there that should be benefiting from the spooky date, The Eras Tour is already the weekend’s clear winner. It’s just a question now of how much the movie will make.

A week before its theatrical release began, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour had already taken in $100 million thanks to presales for the cinematic event. And the three-hour concert film will be shown in both regular and premium formats, which includes IMAX screenings.

AMC Theatres is distributing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The musical, concert film is scheduled to play in 8,500 venues all around the world, and it dropped in 3,850 U.S. theaters. And according to CNN Business, Taylor Swift’s movie venture is predicted to bring in a total of $2 billion in North America alone, over the course of its run. It would be an unprecedented achievement, considering Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is only scheduled to play four weekends in cinemas through November 5, at the time of this writing.

So far, 2023 has belonged to writer/director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The bright-pink blockbuster has been the darling of movies since its opening on Friday, July 21. The Margot Robbie-led flick currently sits at a worldwide total of $1.44 billion worldwide, so imagine the Rocky Balboa-like upset it will be if Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour actually reaches $2 billion. And what does that North American total mean for its worldwide haul over only four weekends of release?

Meanwhile, there are a number of other movies vying to make the remaining slots open in this weekend’s Top 5. The silver medal looks sure to end up in the hands of The Exorcist: Believer. The horror film took in an estimated $3.8 million on Friday the 13th, and it’s on pace for $11 million during its second weekend of release.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie has its sight set on the bronze medal, with a $5.7 million weekend, but Saw X could make things interesting since it’s projected to make $5.4 million. Lastly, No. 5 will likely go to The Creator with $3.3 million.
