China`s premier kickboxing organization recently hosted its second event of the year at the packed Tangshan Sports Center in Tangshan. Originally, a highly anticipated lightweight contest between Luo Chao and Kacper Muszyński was scheduled, but it was unfortunately cancelled due to Muszyński sustaining a back injury. Despite this setback, the evening featured several engaging matchups.
A particularly noteworthy bout saw Meng Gaofeng, who had previously faced Tomás Aguirre, compete against Yodkhunpon Weerasakreck. Yodkhunpon had recently achieved a significant victory, capturing the K-1 Super Lightweight title. Ahead of their fight, Yodkhunpon weighed in 0.8 kg over the limit, resulting in an immediate one-point deduction before the fight even began.
Despite the penalty, the fight commenced and proved competitive, with both fighters landing effective strikes in back-and-forth exchanges. However, as Meng Gaofeng increased his pressure, Yodkhunpon was observed to rely more heavily on clinching tactics to slow the pace. This led the referees to intervene and issue a second point deduction for excessive clinching. Ultimately, these penalties influenced the judges` decision, with Meng Gaofeng securing a narrow victory via unanimous decision, scored 28-27 on points.
