Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most anticipated MCU projects in many years, and returning star Charlie Cox is as excited as his fans about wearing the red horned helmet again. Speaking to Deadline at Disney’s upfronts presentation, Cox, and his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) spoke about working together again on Daredevil: Born Again and their hopes for the show’s future.

Cox started off by commenting on the near-decade-long gap between his Netflix debut and now, joking “my knees are not what they were ten years ago, nor is my back.” The actor then discussed his physical preparation for the role. Netflix’s Daredevil broke ground with its stunning fight scenes and action choreography, including a signature one-take fight scene every season. Cox said:

“It’s a really physically demanding show, which I love. We wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s kind of what makes it what it is. There will definitely come a time where I am not able to do it anymore, but for right now, [we’ll] just keep doing the best job we can and loving it.”

Netflix’s Daredevil series, starring Charlie Cox, defined mature superhero programming when it debuted in 2015. Across 3 seasons, the show set the benchmark for what could be achieved within the genre on television and, when the series was canceled in 2018, fans were desperate to see the same characters, and quality, to return among Disney+’s slate of MCU shows. Marvel Studios made fans’ dreams come true when Cox reprized his role as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen in Spider-Man: No Way Home and subsequently returned twice more (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo), before having his own series, Daredevil: Born Again, greenlit.

Charlie Cox rounded out his answer by stating his hopes for the show’s future. While he didn’t give any details away, the actor said he can see Disney+’s iteration running for as long as his previous partnership with Netflix. Cox said:

“I feel incredibly grateful to still be making the show, and hopefully we’ve got another 10 years in us.”

Daredevil & Kingpin Don’t Share Many Scenes in Born Again…

While Netflix’s Daredevil pitted Matt Murdock against numerous adversaries over three seasons (including, The Punisher, Bullseye, and The Hand), Daredevil’s biggest rival was Wilson Fisk, the ‘businessman’ turned aspiring Mayor of Hell’s Kitchen. Fisk is still considered to be one of the MCU’s best villains of all-time. However, the pair weren’t actually on screen together very often, a fact that Vincent D’Onofrio pointed out during the interview.

“We don’t get to work together a lot,” the actor said. D’Onofrio said he couldn’t actually divulge how many scenes he shares with his co-star in the new show, but Cox did say “not many.” Charlie Cox then continued, saying how, despite not sharing scenes very often, the pair worked hard together checking over the scripts. Cox said:

“Even over the whole five things we’ve done, probably a handful of scenes. But we see eachother a lot. And we’re very much involved together in the creative process as well. I’ll read the scripts first, and I’ll text Vincent, and he’ll be like, ‘What do you think?’ and I’ll be like ‘I’m not saying until you’ve read it.’ And we almost always agree.”
