Michael Strahan Early Life

Michael Strahan was born in Houston and was the youngest of six kids. His mom, Louise Strahan, coached basketball, and his dad, Gene Strahan, was a retired Army Major and a boxer who had a match against the famous heavyweight boxer Ken Norton. He’s also related to Art Strahan, a retired NFL defensive lineman. When he was 9 years old, his family moved to a place called Army post BFV in Mannheim, West Germany.

Even though he didn’t start playing football in high school until his senior year at Westbury High School, he did play organized football at Mannheim American High School. He was a linebacker for the Mannheim Bison in 1985. Before his senior year in high school, he went to live with his uncle Art in Houston. This move allowed him to go to Westbury High School, where he played football for just one season.

But that was enough for him to impress people and get a scholarship to go to Texas Southern University. He graduated from there in 1993 and then joined the National Football League (NFL).
