REPRO Rising Virginia Launches $140k Voter Outreach Campaign Leading Up to Election Day

The campaign targets newly registered young voters and elections in key competitive races

Alexandria, Virginia– Heading into the final weeks of the Virginia House and state Senate elections, REPRO Rising Virginia (RRVA) launched a $140k “Get Out the Vote” effort comprised of two multimedia ad campaigns, a texting campaign, and relational organizing on college campuses to raise awareness of the current threat to abortion access and the importance of establishing a pro-Reproductive Freedom majority in the General Assembly on November 7th.

The first round of ads target strategic locations and encourages young and new voters (between the ages of 18-30) to use their vote as their voice to protect reproductive rights. The campaign is a mix of digital ads paired with a concurrently running texting campaign that hits more than 100,000 registered voters. The layered text messages amplify what is at stake for Virginian’s reproductive rights, and how to cast their vote. Additionally, RRVA has student fellows active on eight Virginia campuses, educating their peers about the electoral process and motivating them to get out the vote.

The second round of ads target endorsed candidates Sen. Monty Mason in Senate District 24, Kimberly Pope Adams in House District 82, and Del. Clint Jenkins in Senate District 17, all running in competitive districts. The results of these races are critical to holding the Reproductive Freedom majority in the state Senate and flipping the House of Delegates to keep abortion legal and accessible in the Commonwealth.

Virginia is the only state in the South that has not passed an abortion ban since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in June 2022 and relegated the decision of abortion rights back to the states. Governor Glenn Youngkin has promised to push forward his abortion ban during the 2024 Legislative Session. November 7th will greatly impact Virginians’ ability to control their own bodies and reproductive futures. Anti-abortion politicians should have no authority to jeopardize Virginians’ reproductive freedom and personal healthcare decisions.

With this comprehensive plan, REPRO Rising Virginia hopes to mobilize younger voters to exercise their right to vote and to protect the future of their reproductive rights and freedom.  Virginians overwhelmingly support abortion rights and access – 77% of all Virginia voters agree that any decision about pregnancy should be made by pregnant people, not politicians.
